Replacing Years of Click-Ops with Automated Cloud Engineering
Redesigned Azure DevOps pipeline architecture and built a Terraform-driven client onboarding framework, replacing years of manual cloud configuration with repeatable engineering practices.
The Challenge
The client provides services for some of the largest employers in the UK. Their Azure estate had grown over years of manual configuration, creating an environment that worked but was fragile, inconsistent, and difficult to scale. Every new client onboarding meant days of manual setup, and there was no repeatable process for deploying across environments. The platform needed a proper engineering foundation.
What We Delivered
We redesigned their Azure DevOps pipeline architecture from the ground up, building reusable CI/CD templates and implementing detailed pull request analysis workflows. A Terraform-driven application configuration framework was created specifically to support rapid client onboarding, turning what used to take days of manual work into consistent, automated deployments across every environment.
The work went deep. We analysed existing pull request workflows, identified bottlenecks, and replaced ad-hoc processes with structured, version-controlled pipelines that the team could maintain and extend themselves.
Key Outcomes
- Built reusable CI/CD pipeline templates in Azure DevOps
- Created Terraform-driven client onboarding framework for rapid multi-environment deployment
- Replaced years of manual cloud configuration with repeatable engineering practices
