Building an Industry-Leading Maintenance Platform

The Challenge

The client operates across the UK's national electrical grid, coordinating preventative maintenance for critical infrastructure. They needed a platform that could support field engineers, office-based planners, and operational managers through a single, reliable system. Downtime was not an option. The platform needed to handle complex scheduling and operational data at national scale, across web, mobile, and specialist field devices.

What We Delivered

We augmented an existing development team who had developed a .NET 8 API platform backed by SQL Server, designed to serve as the backbone for all operational data. On top of this, we helped maintain an Angular 18 web application for office-based maintenance planning and scheduling.

For field operations, we delivered mobile solutions covering iOS, Android, and Windows-based touchscreen devices used by engineers on site. Each interface was tailored to its context, giving field teams simple, reliable tools that work in challenging environments.

The architecture uses Azure event-driven patterns throughout. Service Bus queues, Storage Accounts, and Azure Functions process scheduling and operational data, keeping the system responsive under load and ensuring data consistency across all touchpoints.

The platform became recognised as an industry leader within its sector, providing a scalable foundation for nationwide maintenance planning and field operations.
